Driver guide · 25 October 2026
Express courier work depends on a clear commitment: the right driver and vehicle, available at the right time, with a realistic plan to complete the delivery. For mainland UK and Northern Ireland owner drivers, taking suitable work starts with checking those details before accepting it.

Be specific about availability and coverage
State where you are based, the areas you can realistically reach and when you are available. Explain whether you can cover longer journeys or nights away. A general statement of UK coverage is less useful than accurate information about your present capacity.
Keep your vehicle and handling details current. An urgent consignment still needs to fit the vehicle and the agreed service. Do not offer specialist capability simply because you can reach the collection point quickly.
Check the deadline from collection to handover
Confirm when the goods will be ready, the collection access, delivery window and the person or business receiving them. Allow for loading, traffic, breaks and unloading. Where a crossing is involved, include the sailing and check-in constraints in the plan.
If the deadline cannot be met realistically, say so before committing. Urgency does not make an unsuitable route workable. Ask for clarification when the instructions leave uncertainty about a timed appointment or handover requirement.
Keep dedicated work compatible with the promise
An express booking may require a dedicated vehicle or direct delivery. Check that requirement explicitly. Do not add unrelated collections or a return load during a dedicated leg unless the agreed service permits it.
Once the express delivery is complete, a suitable return collection may fit the next part of your day. Assess that as a new commitment, with its own timing, space and price. Do not promise that a return load will always be available.
Quote for the service you can deliver
Check the goods, dimensions, weight, handling and access before quoting. Include the relevant travel, labour, parking, tolls and waiting arrangements in your assessment. Customer quotes should follow the required final all-inclusive format, with VAT status declared and applicable VAT included.
Keep the agreed scope clear. Specialist handling, two-person help or additional stops need to be confirmed as part of the service, rather than assumed after acceptance.
Apply and manage confirmed work through Nexus Drive It
Nexus Drive It handles driver onboarding. Complete the requested driver, vehicle and business checks, then review suitable opportunities and their plan requirements. Approval and access do not promise that an urgent job will be available in your area.
Drive It supports your own bookings, routes and supported tracking and proof of delivery. Keep the agreed deadline and delivery instructions with the job, communicate delays promptly and complete the required delivery evidence.
Build reliability into the next journey
Look for work that fits your actual capacity and protect the commitments already made. Read the current driver terms before applying or choosing a plan. This guide explains the approach to express work; it is not an advertised vacancy or a guarantee of jobs or earnings.
